Frequently asked

What is Bucket Index?

A free tracker and archive of collectible movie theater popcorn buckets, tins and cups from AMC, Regal, Cinemark, Alamo Drafthouse, Marcus and other theaters and shops. Each bucket gets its own page with the movie, the chain, the release date, the reported retail price and, where one exists, a credited photo.

Where does the data come from?

Two places only: press coverage and chain announcements we can cite and link, and the public product feeds of official theater shops, which a cron job checks once a day. Every fact on a bucket page is a direct quote with a link to its source. If no source says it, we leave it blank.

How does the flip score work?

Flip score = the lowest resale asking price a named publication reported in US dollars, divided by the reported retail price. A 2.0x score means people were asking about twice what the theater charged. It only appears when both numbers are sourced. Asking prices are not completed sales, so treat it as a sign of hype, not a guaranteed profit.

Why do some buckets show "No photo yet"?

We only show real photos of that exact bucket: the official shop product image, or an official or press image from a cited article, credited and linked under the picture. No resale-listing photos and no AI images. If we have not verified a photo yet, the bucket gets a labeled placeholder card instead of a guess.

Are prices live?

Official shop prices and stock are as of the last daily check, and each one shows its check date. Prices quoted from press coverage are the price reported at launch, and they are labeled that way.

What happens if I join the drop list or follow a movie?

We store your email address and what you followed. Nothing is emailed yet. If alerts switch on later, we will ask you to confirm first, and every alert will have a one-click way out. We never sell or share your address.

Is this affiliated with AMC, Regal, Cinemark or any studio?

No. Bucket Index is independent. Product names and images belong to their owners and are credited and linked to the official page or the press coverage they came from.

I found a bucket you are missing, or a mistake.

Send it through the Submit page with a source link. Every addition is checked by hand against that source before it goes live.
